Placebo singer collapses on stage

Placebo frontman Brian Molko reportedly collapsed on stage during a festival appearance last weekend.

According to NME, the Battle For The Sun rockers were performing at the Summersonic Festival in Japan when Molko fainted midway through their set on Sunday.

Revealing why the singer passed out, a statement from Placebo explained: "We have undertaken a gruelling and intensive schedule over the last few months and the last couple of weeks alone played five countries in nine days.

"Brian picked up a virus which coupled with jet lag and exhaustion, caused his collapse on stage. Thanks to prompt and professional care, Brian is recovering well."

Molko is the third rock star to suffer from performance-related injuries in the past week. Jet frontman Nic Cester also passed out during a recent gig in London and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler was hospitalised after falling off stage in South Dakota

Janet Jackson is recording new album

Janet Jackson has announced that she is starting work on her eleventh studio album.

The 'All For You' singer, whose last disc Discipline topped the Billboard chart last year, is expected to release the new record next year.

"I just finished working on the film Why Did I Get Married Too?. I'm looking forward to getting started on my new album!" she wrote on Twitter.

Jackson parted ways with her record label Island Def Jam Records last September, reportedly unhappy with its efforts in promoting her LP.

The star released her self-titled debut album in 1982 and has gone on to sell over 100 million records worldwide.
