Muse star feared 'end of the world'

Matt Bellamy has revealed that he stocked up on baked beans after reading conspiracy theories on the internet.

The Muse frontman was studying the theories as research for his band's new album The Resistance, but began to believe them.

He drove to the local food shop and bought 50 tins of beans, before going to a DIY store to buy an axe.

According to The Sun, Bellamy explained: "I read somewhere a seven-day blockade and the UK would run out of oil.

"Another seven days and we'd run out of food. That's why I bought the beans. The axe would chop firewood."

Bellamy added that his girlfriend had unsuccessfully tried to calm him down.

"She's Italian," he said. "They've seen it all there. The Roman Empire came and went. She's more laid back about history and politics. But to me it all feels so tenuous sometimes, especially in the UK. We are an island and are vulnerable."
